Fishing whilst staying at The Pines Caravan Park

The Wye and its tributaries offer some of the best fishing opportunities in Mid Wales. The main river Wye runs around the back of the site and has many opportunities to fish. You may be interested in Grayling fishing in the Autumn or Trout in the Spring or maybe even the mighty Salmon, they are all numerous here along with Chub and Pike and lower down the river there are Barbel.

The Rhayader and Elan Valley Angling Association offer fishing on the rivers Wye and Elan along with some wild trout fishing in Claerwen reservoir and the Claerwen river. The grayling fishing can be good in the autumn their website here Rhayader and Elan Valley Angling Association offers much information including current prices. Day tickets are available.

The Elan visitor centre issues permits for fishing on some of the Elan valley dams, wild trout lakes and streams, more information available here http://www.elanvalley.org.uk/visiting-elan/recreation/fishing/.

Glaslyn estate is situated about 3 miles south of Rhayader, It includes the Elan / Wye junction pool and is good grayling and trout water with back end salmon given the right water conditions. Day tickets sometimes available.

Doldowlod estate is about 6 miles downstream of Rhayader and is superb Grayling water in the autumn with many fish over 2lb. There are also salmon at the back end given water and many trout.

Further down river, 14 miles away is Builth Wells where the salmon fishing gets serious and given some good water there is a real chance of catching one on a fly, the stretch includes some lovely fly water and some very good grayling fishing with the trout fishing found on most of these upriver stretches.

There is also some good chub fishing at Builth Wells.
